March Madness and School Excitement

Well I can officially say that I just love everything that I am getting to do for Sonic Drive-In we have started getting ready for March Madness in the Amarillo area where there will be a code word for each day and you  can get your Route 44 oz drink for just $.99. I was asked to get words that had to do with basketball so that we can create everything that we needed to for all of the stores that will be participating as well as get those words for each day to our Social Media agency that will be heading that up on Facebook and Twitter.

Above you can see the awesome flyer that was created by our amazing social media guys that always help out and of course I made sure that all of our twelve stores in Amarillo received a folder with one of those in there and of course all of the words for each date, with an included calendar cheat sheet so that way everyone knows what word is going to be used for a specific day. This was a very fun day in the copy room trying to make like a million copies, I think the copy machine hated me that day but it didn't break down so that is a good thing I would say. I am super excited to see the outcome of our Facebook and Twitter fans and if we can reach an amazing number with this great campaign. If you haven't already you should go and like www.facebook.com/sonicamarillo and follow us on www.twitter.com/sonicamarillo that way you know what the code word will be so you can get that drink for $.99.

It is the time of the year where we send out our flyers to all the school in our areas where we manage the Sonic Drive-Ins. The flyer let's them know that we do School Nights, Certificates, and Giveaways as well as any other information that they may need to know about the things we do for the community and the different organizations. I had to send two out to each school one to the principal and one for the PTA head so that we can get the word out about our different programs and the different things that we do.

That job has been finished and they are ready to get mailed out to all of the schools in our different areas where we manage Sonic Drive-Ins. One other thing that I had the opportunity to do this week is build a basket of goodies for one Sonic in the Amarillo market who gets the best numbers as far as mystery shops and fan-trac. Whoever receives the best score for the month that General Managers specific Sonic Drive-In receives a basket filled with prizes and of course some candy that everyone loves. So I had the chance to make one of those for the month of February and I must say I think that it looks amazing. This week was really a productive week and I got to learn a lot as well as get a lot done.

That Time Of The Year Again!

Valentine's Day week was a pretty busy week at Sonic Drive-In especially for me, there was a lot to do at the office during the week anything from recording complaints and compliments to sending out coupons and certificates that have been requested from the different places here in the area. I just love that I get to do so many different things when I am at my internship. There really is never a moment that I can say that I am bored because there is always something new to learn and do at the office and of course I just love to learn anything that I can from such a great company. Like I had stated before it was the week of Valentine's Day and also my birthday as well. My birthday falls on the day after which is the 15th of February, We had some amazing treats brought to us by one of the General Managers of a Sonic in Amarillo and we just loved her for that. She just made our day that much more better and of course we all love chocolate covered strawberries at the office so that was our favorite part of what she had brought to us to enjoy for Valentine's Day.

My amazing Sonic Team at the office also surprised my with a birthday card and a wonderful gift card to one of my all time favorite restaurants Cheddar's. It was a wonderful surprise because I really was not expecting anything, which I really never do and I never ask for gifts either. But wonderful people like my bosses at Sonic and other friends always seem to surprise me with great gifts like this so I like to thank them one more time for thinking of me for my birthday. I just have to say that this week for me has been one marvelous week I enjoyed being super busy and of course time flew by because of it. One main event that was going on during this week was the March of Dimes kickoff event at the Civic Center and Sonic is a big contributor for them so we of course would be there during the event and this year we got some small Sonic footballs that we would throw out into the crowd, to kind of get them pumped up for the beginning and the start of raising money for a great non profit agency. I am so looking forward to seeing what all is in store for me for the rest of the semester as being the Marketing Intern for Sonic Drive-In.

Living Life.....The Sonic Way!

This week has been a fantastic week, of course there are still many tasks that need to get done at the office and of course I have a list to tackle everything that needs to be done. I had the pleasure of attending a Sonic Crew Leaders setup meeting and give feedback about how they can go back and deliver great customer service at their specific Sonic Drive In locations. Of course it was the Sonic Office team who met and who wanted to start the program with the castleberry group that way we know that our employees are getting trained the right way and that we are giving exceptional customer service to anyone that does come to Sonic for the unique experience. This week was a slower week for us mainly I setup some percent of sales night for the different school in the area. Oh wait you probably don't know what that is well let me explain....

Sonic does school night fundraisers for any school that is wanting to participate and what Sonic does is gives ten percent of the sales that night right back to the school...I thought that was such a great way to be involved in the community and help out the different school's in our community. Also I did setup some great door prizes for some organizations that needed donations which was so much fun, because I just love to put together great prizes that I know everyone would love.

I feel that I am gaining some very valuable insight into how Sonic is operating from working at a Sonic Drive In to being the Marketing Intern for them right now. Everyone here is just so willing to show me anything that I want to learn about Marketing and what all it takes to run a business like this. And of course I am putting myself out there and showing that I am really interested in everything that is done in such a unique business. And you know I can't get enough of that delicious Sonic food.....

The life of an Intern at Sonic Drive In is always on the go there is not one dull moment, there is always something that needs to get done and you can always find something to do when you have finished your tasks. I just love to be hands on and learn as much as I can from the marketing director. This coming week should be very interesting we have the March of Dimes kick of event on February 15th and I am sure that this coming week will be full of excitement. The busiest time of the year is about to begin and it is even very busy for marketing at Sonic.

When the Trainee becomes the Trainer!

I absolutely love that I have received the chance to intern with a company that I have known so well for so many years. I started my Sonic Experience two and a half years ago working as a Carhop at a local Sonic Drive-In in Amarillo. It was truly an experience I worked my way up and soon became the Marketing Crew Leader for my store and had the chance to work closely with Camie Boone the Marketing Director and soon had the chance of meeting and getting to know the owner Roger Castleberry. I just enjoyed working with Sonic and all of the people that worked day to day to make it the most loved fast food restaurant around. Anyway that is just a little bit of a background that I have had with Sonic and now on to the amazing life of a Sonic Intern.......

I received this internship after speaking to both Camie and Roger about possibly coming in and working with them and learning all that I can from such a great company. They were more then excited to have me come in and help out since spring is a very busy time in the office and marketing. I came in and instantly had things to offer to the company that they did not know about such as Google Calendar and Google Docs that I have always used for classes. It was so great to know that stuff that I have learned about in college can really help a local business with better organization and how they send stuff out to their different stores.

This week was one very eventful week I got the chance to work closely with the March of Dimes and be on a committee to plan events that will take place during the campaign and what Sonic will be doing to make the best out of it. As you may know Sonic Drive-In in the Amarillo area sells pies for the March of Dimes and all of the proceeds will be going to them as well. This is something that I have learned about this year and I absolutely love that they do this. I am also really excited that I will be helping the March of Dimes and their goal to reach $500,000 this year.

I also got the chance to see what all we do with the different sports teams around the area I had the pleasure of meeting Stephanie Tucker which is the Amarillo Venom Marketing Director and owner. We talked about what Sonic will be doing as far as marketing goes during the games and how to get a crowd to them and what Sonic can do to get their brand name out there to the public. I have to say that I have learned so much during this week and keep learning new things every day. Another asset that they loved about me is my organizational skills. Right now they have things all over the place and I have been put in charge of organizing and making the marketing room look awesome and easy to access for when we have to pull out door prizes or certificates for the schools. As you can see I have a lot of work ahead of me and will be working hard to make this room look amazing.

I have absolutely loved this week at my internship and have enjoyed learning all that I can, I know that I will be getting busy very soon with all the events and promotions coming up this Spring.
