Sonic Drive-In Your Ultimate Tea Stop....

So this week at Sonic it has been an exciting week we have rolled out many different teas that customers can order and try. And if you ask me I say that these new teas are delicious I have probably had at least one each day. Even though I do work for Sonic as their marketing intern I still can't get enough of their food or drinks, there is just something about Sonic that I love because I can get a different treat anytime that I do go there and never have to get the same thing over and over again. Mostly what this post will be about this week is the new products that I have had the chance to test out and try and I just love it. I guess being the intern really does have its perks. You really do get to know what is coming to Sonic before anyone else and you get to sample some of the best products around, and of course get to spread it to all of your friends.
As you can tell in the pictures below I did go to Sonic to get some of the new snacks that they did have and I enjoyed them very much.

Sonic always knows what to do to get me there like always, I just think being an intern you get to taste some of the newest products and then you are hooked, I really think that is how it works haha. So this week was a really fun week with a lot of new products hitting all of the stores and a lot more promotional items coming our way during the summer. You won't want to miss what Sonic will be having for everyone this summer, it really is going to be a blast and I know that Sonic will make sure that all of their customers know that they are appreciated. So Get Ready, Get Set and Go to SONIC!

Sonic Drive-In Service Awards

One of the coolest things that Sonic here in the area does is they do a monthly service award for one of the Sonic's here in the area. This really comes down to how the stores are performing, what the customers are saying about them and of course complaints and compliments that happen for the store. All of that is then calculated and the store that receives the highest store receives a service basket filled with goodies and promotional Sonic items for their managers and crew. I love it because I get to make the baskets and fill it with stuff that I think the employees would love to have. As you can see below this is what a service award basket would look like when I begin making it.

I think that Sonic Drive-In has some of the coolest giveaways and promotional items that anybody would be happy to receive these. Usually the store employees love the baskets and everyone at the store does receive something for themselves. Being the intern and getting to put this together really does make it more fun for me and I know then how much hard work does go into putting this together, because the store that I did work at before has received these baskets before. Now I am glad to be on the other side and getting to prepare these for the amazing stores that are in the area.

And here is the finished product of the amazing basket...

This is just one of the fun things that I get to do as being the Marketing Intern for Sonic Drive-In, is to create these amazing baskets for all of the managers and employees hard work. This week has truly been a fun one and a bit of a busy one as well, trust me you get to learn a lot while being the intern for such a large company and how much work it does take to market at a local level and of course the national level as well.

NSAC Week!

This week's post will be relatively short because I did not have my internship because of the National Student Advertising Competition that was coming up in April. So I worked with my Buffalo Advertising Team to finalize and get our plans book printed so that it could be sent on to nationals and district for our competition date. Sonic Drive-In was kind enough to donate some cheeseburgers for one of the days that the team spent working on the book. The picture you see below is of me and one of my best friends Abbey Coufal at one of the Sonic's in town picking up the cheeseburgers for the team.

This week was a lot of fun and of course there was stress that came along with that but we got through the week and got the plans book done. I was the one in charge of the food and fun for the week and of course I would say that I succeeded in that role because I was the Chief Funster. I actually wish that I had that job in real life....hahaha....maybe one day I will. Anyway our book was finalized and we were able to celebrate once it was done. I know that I will never forget Spring Break because I spent it with the most amazing people and friends that anyone could ever ask for.

Sonic Drive-In and the Community

This week during my internship there were a lot of requests for the community cards that we give out to organizations to be able and raise money for trips or anything that the team is needing for the year. I am officially in charge of receiving those requested and getting the correct paperwork filled out. Also when I have them ready I make sure and contact the person about it so that they know that they could pick them up at the office. I absolutely love that Sonic Drive-In has this as part of their marketing effort, it really does help them as well as the community groups that need to raise money. We obviously let the team keep 100 % of the proceeds and we just ask that they return any unsold cards to us if there are any.

As you can see the cards are like a credit card size that have coupons for buy one get one free and other coupons like that. We do get lots of requests for these here at the office even from different states, but we can't fulfill the ones that come in from places that we do not have our Sonic's at. I have learned so much from this company and the way that they do handle and care about the community and organizations that are around here.

They really do set a great example for all other businesses in the area on how you should be involved with the community. Sonic is involved with the March of Dimes, Amarillo Venom, Amarillo Bulls, Amarillo Sox, and many more teams and organizations in the area. They really try to be involved with everyone and really get their brand out there.

People will always visit a place that has a great impact in the community and I really believe that Sonic Drive-In here in the Amarillo area has some of the best working people and some of the most caring people out there. I just love that I am the Marketing Intern. for the company because I just love that I am able to be involved and meet some of the great people in the community and make connections that will truly be a lasting reminder of the amazing internship that I held here in the Amarillo area. So this week has really been a blast working with coupons, certificates and community card requests for the community. People are really thankful that we are willing to help out and help them raise their goal to send kids to camp or get new uniforms for their team. It is just the little things that Sonic can do to help the organizations in the area, we strive to be the best that we can be.

March Madness and School Excitement

Well I can officially say that I just love everything that I am getting to do for Sonic Drive-In we have started getting ready for March Madness in the Amarillo area where there will be a code word for each day and you  can get your Route 44 oz drink for just $.99. I was asked to get words that had to do with basketball so that we can create everything that we needed to for all of the stores that will be participating as well as get those words for each day to our Social Media agency that will be heading that up on Facebook and Twitter.

Above you can see the awesome flyer that was created by our amazing social media guys that always help out and of course I made sure that all of our twelve stores in Amarillo received a folder with one of those in there and of course all of the words for each date, with an included calendar cheat sheet so that way everyone knows what word is going to be used for a specific day. This was a very fun day in the copy room trying to make like a million copies, I think the copy machine hated me that day but it didn't break down so that is a good thing I would say. I am super excited to see the outcome of our Facebook and Twitter fans and if we can reach an amazing number with this great campaign. If you haven't already you should go and like www.facebook.com/sonicamarillo and follow us on www.twitter.com/sonicamarillo that way you know what the code word will be so you can get that drink for $.99.

It is the time of the year where we send out our flyers to all the school in our areas where we manage the Sonic Drive-Ins. The flyer let's them know that we do School Nights, Certificates, and Giveaways as well as any other information that they may need to know about the things we do for the community and the different organizations. I had to send two out to each school one to the principal and one for the PTA head so that we can get the word out about our different programs and the different things that we do.

That job has been finished and they are ready to get mailed out to all of the schools in our different areas where we manage Sonic Drive-Ins. One other thing that I had the opportunity to do this week is build a basket of goodies for one Sonic in the Amarillo market who gets the best numbers as far as mystery shops and fan-trac. Whoever receives the best score for the month that General Managers specific Sonic Drive-In receives a basket filled with prizes and of course some candy that everyone loves. So I had the chance to make one of those for the month of February and I must say I think that it looks amazing. This week was really a productive week and I got to learn a lot as well as get a lot done.

That Time Of The Year Again!

Valentine's Day week was a pretty busy week at Sonic Drive-In especially for me, there was a lot to do at the office during the week anything from recording complaints and compliments to sending out coupons and certificates that have been requested from the different places here in the area. I just love that I get to do so many different things when I am at my internship. There really is never a moment that I can say that I am bored because there is always something new to learn and do at the office and of course I just love to learn anything that I can from such a great company. Like I had stated before it was the week of Valentine's Day and also my birthday as well. My birthday falls on the day after which is the 15th of February, We had some amazing treats brought to us by one of the General Managers of a Sonic in Amarillo and we just loved her for that. She just made our day that much more better and of course we all love chocolate covered strawberries at the office so that was our favorite part of what she had brought to us to enjoy for Valentine's Day.

My amazing Sonic Team at the office also surprised my with a birthday card and a wonderful gift card to one of my all time favorite restaurants Cheddar's. It was a wonderful surprise because I really was not expecting anything, which I really never do and I never ask for gifts either. But wonderful people like my bosses at Sonic and other friends always seem to surprise me with great gifts like this so I like to thank them one more time for thinking of me for my birthday. I just have to say that this week for me has been one marvelous week I enjoyed being super busy and of course time flew by because of it. One main event that was going on during this week was the March of Dimes kickoff event at the Civic Center and Sonic is a big contributor for them so we of course would be there during the event and this year we got some small Sonic footballs that we would throw out into the crowd, to kind of get them pumped up for the beginning and the start of raising money for a great non profit agency. I am so looking forward to seeing what all is in store for me for the rest of the semester as being the Marketing Intern for Sonic Drive-In.

Living Life.....The Sonic Way!

This week has been a fantastic week, of course there are still many tasks that need to get done at the office and of course I have a list to tackle everything that needs to be done. I had the pleasure of attending a Sonic Crew Leaders setup meeting and give feedback about how they can go back and deliver great customer service at their specific Sonic Drive In locations. Of course it was the Sonic Office team who met and who wanted to start the program with the castleberry group that way we know that our employees are getting trained the right way and that we are giving exceptional customer service to anyone that does come to Sonic for the unique experience. This week was a slower week for us mainly I setup some percent of sales night for the different school in the area. Oh wait you probably don't know what that is well let me explain....

Sonic does school night fundraisers for any school that is wanting to participate and what Sonic does is gives ten percent of the sales that night right back to the school...I thought that was such a great way to be involved in the community and help out the different school's in our community. Also I did setup some great door prizes for some organizations that needed donations which was so much fun, because I just love to put together great prizes that I know everyone would love.

I feel that I am gaining some very valuable insight into how Sonic is operating from working at a Sonic Drive In to being the Marketing Intern for them right now. Everyone here is just so willing to show me anything that I want to learn about Marketing and what all it takes to run a business like this. And of course I am putting myself out there and showing that I am really interested in everything that is done in such a unique business. And you know I can't get enough of that delicious Sonic food.....

The life of an Intern at Sonic Drive In is always on the go there is not one dull moment, there is always something that needs to get done and you can always find something to do when you have finished your tasks. I just love to be hands on and learn as much as I can from the marketing director. This coming week should be very interesting we have the March of Dimes kick of event on February 15th and I am sure that this coming week will be full of excitement. The busiest time of the year is about to begin and it is even very busy for marketing at Sonic.
